NucleoDx® Nuclease-free water treated with diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEPC) is commonly used in molecular biology experiments to minimize the risk of nucleases contaminating the samples. Nucleases are enzymes that can degrade RNA and DNA, which can interfere with the accuracy and integrity of experimental results. At room temperature, the pH of the water should ideally be 5-7.

DEPC is a chemical that inactivates nucleases by modifying their active sites, rendering them unable to degrade nucleic acids. Using nuclease-free water treated with DEPC is particularly important when working with sensitive applications such as RNA transcription, reverse transcription, PCR, and DNA sequencing. Contamination with nucleases during these procedures can lead to inaccurate and unreliable data.
